I ordered the heat deflectors that roadie installed on his bike. I have to say they work real good. They keep my thighs from cooking and have redirected the air flow on the bike as well when it gets hot in traffic. I don't get that big rush of hot air hitting me in the face as much. The taller windshield created that after I installed it. It changed the air flow significantly.

These Heat Deflectors really work, rode several hours yesterday and today and it was over 92 degrees out and the Vaquero ran it's normal very warm temp with the temp gauge showing just under the halfway mark.

The Heat Deflectors are not meant to make your bike run cooler, but to keep your thighs from being fried.

Well, they worked great, they block the heat from rising up between the tank and your legs and by forcing the hot air downwards and backwards, they do just that, well.

The deflectors even blocked a lot of the heat off my wife's legs, too, she says she could tell the difference within 15 minutes.

So, I highly recommend these Heat Deflectors for your Vaquero or Voyager.

You are correct in my opinion, these are two different heat sources and thus two different heat issues.

The heat from the pipes can surely heat up your lower legs and feet and wrapping the pipes works best for that issue and the Heat Deflectors work best at blocking and diverting the hot air from the jugs, away from your thighs and jewels.

I just got back in from a three day cross state road trip and those heat deflectors worked very well not only on the highway, but great in stop in go traffic in Houston and in Austin where I was sitting still in traffic on the interstate for up to 5 to 10 minutes at a time due to a wreck ahead and the fan even came on because of the heat build up.

My jewels were not roasted like the past two years of riding the Vaquero without them. The heat deflectors, so glad I got them for sure.
