Victory Cross Country Tourer
Heat Deflector Installation Instructions
Remove both Saddle Bags and then
remove both side covers.
Do Not remove the seat at this time. Start on the right side of your motorcycle
using a tape measurer.
Measure from the rear tip of the seat forward 4 1/2". Using a piece of tape,
like masking tape. Mark that
measurement on the bottom edge or lip of the seat.
Do this also for the other side of the seat as well.
Now remove the seat and turn it over. Looking at the bottom. Please note the 2
places where the tape is located on each side of the seat.
In the next picture. Take notice of
the red outlined area marked D.
Using a supplied
alcohol pad. Thoroughly clean this area. Make sure that this area is clean and
dry before adhering
the Velcro labeled E.
Firmly press Velcro E
to this area. Making sure to use a fingernail to press the Velcro tightly in
place. The Velcro must be formed against the shape of the seat.
After placing Velcro
E on the right and the left side of the seat.
Remove the masking tape and bolt your seat
back onto the motorcycle. Then reinstall both side covers.
Now starting on the right side of the motorcycle, you are now ready to install the right heat deflector.
Right Heat Deflector Installation View
Note: The black square shown on the heat deflector above represents where a section of Velcro has been attached and it is also a reminder that this can be used as a reference for locating the front end of a heat deflector.
Insert the rear tip of the deflector
between the seat and the upper edge of the side cover at point
A.
(This is where you had previously used a tape measure and placed a tape marking
beforehand.)
Hold the deflector stationary at point A
with your left hand. Area B
of deflector's length is gradually inserted between the seat and the top edge of
the side cover, allowing C
to be inserted behind the front section of the seat.
The Velcro, shown in the picture at point C
is Velcro'd to the back surface of the seat and is sandwiched between the seat
and the tank as indicated by the red arrow.
(The dashed red lines of the
arrow indicates that this part of the arrow is
behind the seat.)
Using another alcohol wipe. Clean the back surface of the seat where Velcro
C will make contact.
When the surface is dry, activate Velcro C
and adhere it to the back of the seat.
Make sure that the seat and deflector mate against one another. If need be,... you can manipulate the deflector's shape slightly, allowing it's form to flow with the seat. Our Heat Deflectors are made of Aluminum and it's thickness allows for tweaking it's form.
The Deflector is mounted correctly when it's leading forward edge is as far forward as the leading edge of the seat.
Now proceed to the left side of the motorcycle and do the same
install for that side.
