I went back to wearing the HD styled biker boots that have a zipper on the inner sides. They are by no means cheap either, when purchased at a dealership. However, I did notice that the soles on this type, lasted me about a year and I couldn't find HD replacement styled soles and had to settle for what the shoe-maker had. Their soles didn't last me more than two months (I didn't drag my feet either), before having them re-soled again. I needed a harder, long lasting rubber and I finally found it. Very easy to find, as a-matter-o-fact too! Best of all, it's totally free! They are usually found along any interstate. That's righttttt! The interstate! Recaps from trucks and cars. I managed to find the type that has fiber-glass belting. Steel belted are a pain in the butt to work with. I also located an extremely strong, flexible marine adhesive to adhere the rubber to my smooth bottomed boots. The rubber treads are very easy to shape to whatever thickness you want, with the use of a table/ bench mounted grinder. I have Good-Year all terrain tire treads on my
boots for over a year now. Betcha I'll get better than 40,000 outta mine. |
